Study of Coronary Artery DiseaseThe first research platform will target coronary artery disease (CAD). The Fairbanks Institute, through the Indiana Health Study, will collect blood samples and information from people in Indianapolis with current clinical indications for CAD as evidenced by a history of coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery, diagnostic angiogram or angioplasty with stent placement. Blood samples and information will also be collected from people similar in age, gender and ethnicity, but without a history of CAD. Our goal is to enroll a total of 1,500 people in the CAD study, 750 in each group, before the end of 2009. Enrollment of participants will occur at primary and specialty care clinics located throughout Indianapolis. As this is a prospective, longitudinal study, participant follow-up is intended to continue indefinitely.
